Reflection Question: What are the functions of music in society?
Reflection:
Since my birth until now, I heard millions of music everywhere I live in this Earth. From my past experiences, I suggest that music always has functions in society. One example is to entertain every soul includes animals and plants to feel the same expression as the music flows. I heard that music can also be used for medical purposes. Last but not least, I am sure that music can also be used for respect reasons, such as to respect president, or to respect wise men’s death.

B.     Music

Reflection:
This week, I learned nothing in instrument class as I came at very limited times. This happened because I had to study about Major 7th, Minor 7th, and Dominant 7th chords. I also had the chords test that took my instrument class time as I was given an overview about the test lesson again.

Reflection Question: How have developments in technology changed the ways in which we engage with music?
Reflection:
Technology is a science of making devices that help human’s lifes and activities. But nowadays, technology is heavily related to electric devices. In music, developments in technology might change music instruments’ classic, include physical features and sounds that are different compare to classical music instruments. As the sound of music instruments change due to technology, technology might change the waysin which we engage to music, include how we enjoy and appreciate hi-tech musics.

B.     Music
Dates: April 24th 2012 and April 25th 2012
Topic: None
Reflection:
This week, I learned nothing in instrument class because of the time as it was very limited. This week, I had to focus on the theory session, where there was a big assessment working on a presentation. Both preparation and presentation took whole instrument sessions.

Week 4: April 30th 2012 to May 4th 2012
A.    Music Theory
Dates: May 1st 2012 and May 2nd 2012
Topic: Major 7th, Minor 7th, and Dominant 7th Chords Review
Reflection Question: How does business and industry affect music-makers and users?
Reflection:
Business and industry affect music-makers’ work efficiency on creating songs to the listeners. With helps from business and industry, music-makers can create their songs much more than those who do not have contracts with business and industry. Shortly, the way business and industry affect music-makers is making the music-makers’ work more quick to finish because of help contract approved and the listeners can enjoy one music-maker song more as he/ she can create more songs.

B.     Music
Dates: May 1st 2012 and May 2nd 2012
Topic: Practice singing “Close to You”
Reflection:
This week, I used my instrument class sessions to review the theory session lessons and to practice for singing assessment. Though I could not practice my instrument, I was glad to have chances to review the lessons again and to practice singing assessment together with my group mates.

Week 5: May 7th 2012 to May 11th 2012
A.    Music Theory
Dates: May 8th 2012 and May 9th 2012
Topic: Rehearsal & Examination of singing “Close to You” song
Reflection Question: How did my singing assessment go?
Reflection:
This week, I had a singing assessment on group. I did this assessment well because I had prepared well by practicing singing ten times. By doing many repetitions singing on the song, I could memorize the song’s lyrics stronger and last longer. When I sang the song in front of my classmates, I did not even know that my voice became a dominant voice of my group and everybody appreciated and applaused my group performance because I have done the singing good, together with my group mates.

B.     Music
Dates: May 8th 2012 and May 9th 2012
Topic: None
Reflection:
This week, I learned nothing in the instrument class because the time was taken to finish the singing assessment and every student had to listen to all group performances. Although I had no change to learn at the instrument class this week, I keep practicing at my home and practice for incoming assessment, that is ensemble performance on Jazz song.

A.    Music Theory
Dates: May 15th 2012 and May 16th 2012
Topic: Preparation to Create “Beautiful Indonesia” Jingle Melody
Reflection Question: How was my Jazz ensemble group progress?
Reflection:
This week, I started to prepare for ensemble performance on Jazz song by rehearsing with my group mates and is supervised by Mr. Hary. For the first rehearsal, my group progress was not good enough because there were members who were absent at the rehearsal time. Also, we had to synchronize each other’s instrument sound in order to create a better ensemble. Personally, I will make the group performance good by practicing the Jazz song well.

B.     Music
Dates: May 15th 2012 and May 16th 2012
Topic: Rehearsal for Ensemble Performance on Jazz song
Reflection:
This week, I used my instrument class time to start preparing for ensemble performance on Jazz song by rehearsing with my group mates and is supervised by Mr. Hary. Our group chose “Autumn Leaves” song as our Jazz song to be performed. I had no difficulties on playing this song as I has played it for several months ago. The only difficulty is to memorize the melody again.
